Reality TV

They always write off girls as the main audience for reality tv series, such as; the Amazing Race, the Apprentice, the Scholar, Survivor, Project Runway, America’s Next Top Model, etc..

why do they do that?? I reckon guys do watch some of those shows too..

The Amazing Race—cause it is super cool to watch people go round the world, whilst we rot with jealousy in a tiny room, in a tiny apartment, earning a 20dollars an hour, 9 to 6 job.

The Apprentice—cause we learn Project Management skills, which is essential in this cut throat work force. Oh.. and the fact that the Don’s hair looks like a wig is hilarious.

The Scholar—just to watch super brainy kids have a go at each other.. and plus whenever they ask questions and there is a dramatic pause, the group of friends watching the show together, with mediocre brain power will just shout out the answer. Usually we get it wrong.. sometimes.. we are pretty smart.. and do get it right.

Survivor—watching people acting like savages all for the sake of money.. is pretty cool… I guess?

Project Runway—good looking male designers. who always turn out gay…. whyYyy??!! It is just a reminder to us girls that the good looking guys are all taken.

America’s Next Top Model—put a group of beautiful girls together and they will turn to be stuffy, prissy, backstabbing bitches. It is fun though to watch them have a go at each other.

so why do girls watch these shows?? is it because at the back of their minds, they have a funny attraction to wanting to feel demoralised.. that they don’t have enough brains, don’t have beauty/boobs, don’t have the luxury to travel all over the world?

Hm.. I beg to differ… I love watching these shows because I want to know who in the end win the long race, who was the smartest, the most versatile, has the best business acumen. True, I may not be these people… but the thrill of knowing who was the best of the pack of normal people like us, makes up for it.

I especially love the Next Top Model series. I have seen every single one of those episodes. I am just buggered that they do not send the Next Top Model merchandise internationally.. if not I’d have owned the rhinestone tank by now!! darnnNn.

Seeing beautiful girls, taking beautiful pictures, experiencing those photo shoots together with them…is so cool. They might be bitchy.. but I guess, intrinsically… there is a bitchy side to every person.. you may be surprised.. even the nicest girl next door, can turn out to be….

holly connolly.. the weekend is over

I had a fantabulous weekend.
It all started on friday night… where I had a night of watching ‘Over the hedge’ in the cinema with my friends, Wailing and Kelvin.
Hilarious stuff… even though we were meant to be bowling.. but the movie made up for our missed chance.

Had a big lie in on Saturday morning..Got up at like half ten in the morning. Did some reading… then went back to sleep and woke up at 12. haha… That was some sleep man.

And after… Eric came over and .. joy oh joy…. it was preparing to go for Grease…awesome awesome show. LoveDd it.. even though I still do prefer the original one.

On sunday.. another big lie in… goshH.. I have been so pampered. So all in all… a very very relaxing weekend. So rare.. yet so treasured..

no bowling...

we reached the alley.. just to find out that the lanes are completely booked full… given the fact that it is a friday evening.. it is pretty silly of us to think that we’d get a lane easily. Seriously though.. where do these people come from??!!

bowling are for geeks… you cool people should be at the cinemas and shopping.. go away and leave those lanes alone!! bugger it…

Actually.. I was pretty pleased that the lanes were all booked full.. cause I didn’t want to make an ass of myself.. I don’t think I can bowl to save myself, unless I am running on my beginner’s luck.

So.. instead of bowling.. we checked out the cinemas instead… Thank God that there were tickets available. Not for the Da Vinci code.. but for ‘Over the Hedge’. I thought it was pretty amazing show. I just love 3D animation. And I especially love the hyperactive squirrel… he is so awesome!!! The part where everything went slow mo… that was hilarious.

Now.. I just can’t wait for Cars to start…. I reckon that is another really really good 3D animation. I am so looking forward to it.

Grease...

It is still the word.
Grease has hit malaysian shores at last. I am so excited about tomorrow night’s performance. I am just preparing myself for the treat!!

Apparently though.. it was a disappointment, according to some reviews.. but bah and humbug.. what do they know?? I bet they are not even huge grease fans.. Do they know word for word each song… do they know the dance steps for ‘we go together’? If they don’t, then don’t say it was a letdown.

I am not going to write it off as a disappointment, until I see it for myself. How can grease be a disappointment?? bloody critics!!

bowling..

My work colleague, her boyfriend, eric and I have taken to hanging out at least once a month.

In March, we volunteered for a day at the local animal shelter (PAWS). We walked dogs, played with cats and there were even some tears shed, when we grew attached to some of the animals, but realised that we simply cannot afford to take them home.

Last month, April… we went up to Cameron’s together with another couple. We had a complete ball there…

So this month, we are going bowling. If you know me, I simply don’t do bowling… I refer to it as a geek sport… much preferring to horse ride, swim, play tennis, etc…I have only bowled like once ever in my life.. which was when the girls took me to bowling alley (induction ceremony.. yah rightTT) as part 1 of 3 of my farewell party in Perth. I would say.. beginner’s luck.. blessed me with a couple of straight sets. haha..

Anyways… I’ll be headed down to the bowling alley down in the shopping mall in my suburb. Fingers crossed… my beginner’s luck would have carried forward… I’ll be stuffed if it ran out and each bowl results in the bowling ball veering off the straight line and dropping into the two little ‘drains’... haha

About my eye

My eye is still being a little pesky..
But I am able to wear contacts.. so it is getting huge loads better.

Thanks to the pharmacist who prescribed me with the most amazing eye drops.. haha.. it is like magic. Just a couple of drops and voila!! it is good bye red eyes.

I still have no idea what set off my eye infection/allergy. But at least I am not going blind.. so that is something to be grateful about.

bloodshot eye

I am hugely annoyed with my bloody eye!!
my left eye must have gotten infected somehow mid afternoon yesterday.
I had to take out my contacts at work.. and am now in my glasses at work. I haven’t worn glasses in agesSs.. and I am not exactly liking it.. cause I look so different in them..

but the thing that I find hugely annoying is that I have got to squint when I am looking at the computer screen.. which means I won’t be able to work… and it affects me so much..
arghHh.. I just wish that my eye would just hurry up and get better already!!

an awesome evening

I can only say I had an eventful and fulfilling night last night. It is one of the rare nights that I have time to myself. So I thought I’d get my butt into the gym.. after such a long absence.. and wasting away the monthly 175 dollars of Fitness First gym membership.. my health and my money conscience finally kicked in.

So I did a light jog for about 1.5km and did about 1km on the rowing machine. I really worked out and I am so proud of myself.. even though after that I nearly blacked out… but the exercise really did me a world of good..

Got home.. and decided that enough was enough.. so I got out my pictures from the Singapore trip and set out with a determination to complete my scrapbook.. which I did…

After that I watched an episode of The OC … I know it is a lame show.. but I still loved it… I still couldn’t exactly sleep… so I read a couple of chapters of the new Princess Diaries Book (#7).. and later just knocked out on bed..

I thought I had an awesome night.. all for myself.. next time I must just remember to buy chocolate dip and strawberries.. that’d complete my night.

as for tonight… it’s some light shopping( i am not spending.. Eric has promised to buy me some clothes.. haha) and a movie—Mission Impossible 3 with Eric. Good bye chick night… maybe next week I’d get more of those.

moving and shaking

God alone knows how many people have left my life, due to my constant moving across borders and countries, etc.. etc..

When I left Malaysia as a kid, I left a bunch of good girl friends behind…. Michelle, Ailin, Jennifer.
When I left Singapore as a tween, I left my best friend, Bernadette and my first boyfriend, Jonathan.
When I left Perth as a working adult, I left behind my church, Perth Christian Life Center, my group of girls (Deb, Kristy, Jules, Mara, Yin, Winnie, Jialin, Shar, Bel, Lisa, etc…), my boyfriend, Casey and everything I loved.

Do not be so much moving of friends even get me started on people who moved out of my life to other places… I thought that starting over in Malaysia, there wouldn’t anymore.. but a bomb was dropped on me this morning.

I was just totally flummoxed. NoOooOO….just when I have adjusted to normalcy…. the thought of someone important in my life moving physically out of it.. just causes me to go ‘ShiteEE!!!’ (pardon my lingo)

An Evening with The Breakers @ Bangsar

I went for The Breakers from NYC last night. They were a group of 5 blokes singing their own brand of acapella.

I’d give them a 7 out of 10 rating. They were good.. but there were some parts where they were pitchy and somehow or other their blending didn’t really work.

But I was really impressed by the beatboxing of Adam Farouk and the bass of Steve Engelbrecht . My favourite however was Andy Goldin. He was awesome… he is the flexitone of the group, as well as the youngest member. His passion for music really showed. I enjoyed listening to him sing as well as watching him do it… he can really groove.
